A person is actively shooting at the East Lansing campus. This is an active and ongoing situation. Follow the Run, Hide and Fight guidelines. Secure in place; turn cell phones to silent; remain quite. Suspect description: short male with mask, possibly black male. On 2/11/2023 at approximately 12:22 am, an assault was reported to have occurred on the Shaw Lane sidewalk by West McDonel Hall.

Suspect Description: white, mid 20s-mid 30s, approx 6ft, blond/red hair and beard, green dark sage waist-length rain coat.

Synopsis: At approximately 12:06am on 12/9/2022, the Michigan State University Department of Police and Public Safety received a report of a carjacking that occurred along West Circle Drive, specifically near the Main Library. A police chase ensued and two individuals were apprehended in the city of Lansing. There is an ongoing investigation regarding this incident.
Suspect Information: Masked men wearing all black

UPDATE: Regarding the report of a shooting off-campus in the City of East Lansing near Grove St and Linden St, the suspects are believed to have left the area. Assault
This is an MSU ALERT from the Michigan State University Police regarding an incident in the City of East Lansing.
A report of shots fired occurred at or near Downtown East Lansing. If near by use caution. Contact East Lansing Police to report any unusual or suspicious activity. Gunshots were reported to have been fired in the area of the Grove Street Parking Ramp. Officers are on scene. Suspects are reported to be two black males, one wearing a black jacket with a red design on the back, and one with a backpack.
