Occurring the East Lansing campus
Reported by Michigan State University Police The following message contains information that may cause distress to some individuals. Date Reported: April 14, 2024 Date Occurred: April 13, 2024 through April 14, 2024 Location: Lot 91 – 953 Service Rd.
Description of Incident: On April 14, 2024 at , Michigan State University Police received a report of Series of Motor Vehicle Thefts that occurred at the East Lansing campus – Lot 91 – 953 Service Rd.. In the last two days a pattern has developed regarding thefts of motor vehicles in the area. Specifically on campus, there was a theft and an attempted theft of a motor vehicle in Lot 91. Suspects appear to be targeting 2012-2022 Hyundai vehicles.

Safety Tips: Motor Vehicle Thefts – We encourage community members to reduce their chances of being a victim of motor vehicle theft by: securing doors and windows, parking in well-lit areas, consider placing u-lock through rear tire of moped, keep valuables out of sight.

Synopsis: At approximately 12:12am on 10/29/2023, an aggravated assault was reported to have occurred near Grand River Avenue and Charles Street, in East Lansing. During an assault between two parties, a suspect fired a weapon and was believed to flee west and possibly north. No injuries were reported.

UPDATE! Severe storm warning has expired for the East Lansing and Grand Rapids locations of Michigan State University. Please continue to use caution when traveling. Do not drive or walk through flooded areas. Macomb, Detroit have been updated to a Severe Thunderstorm Watch. Troy campus and the Flint location remain under severe weather warning.

National Weather Service reports wind gusts up to 80 miles per hour. Tornado sirens are being activated. The severe weather is causing roadways to flood. Please remember to not drive or walk through flooded roadways and take an alternate route when possible.

If in the area, shelter in place away from windows and wait for an all clear to be provided. MSU Timely Warning: Attempted Motor Vehicle Theft
Timely Warning for attempted Motor Vehicle Thefts that occurred on the East Lansing campus reported by Michigan State University Police Date Reported: 8/11 and 8/16
Date Occurred: 8/11 and 8/16
Location: Multiple locations on the East Lansing Campus
Suspect Information: Unknown
Vehicle Information: 2011-2021 Hyundai and Kia vehicles that have not yet received the software update. Synopsis: In the last 5 days a pattern has developed in regards to thefts of motor vehicles. There have been 3 attempted thefts of a motor vehicle at Ramp 1/Shaw Lane, Shaw Hall Parking Loop, and Lot 5/Delta Court. This bulletin serves as a warning and a community reminder to make sure all motor vehicles are secured and in designated parking areas when left unattended. Suspects appear to be targeting 2011-2021 Kia and Hyundai vehicles. If you own one of these vehicles please go to hyundaiantitheft.com for additional information on theft prevention.
